An Irish artist working and living in Seoul, Korea. As an artist, I seek to actively challenge concepts of gender and the body politic through performance, costume, and audience participation. I choose to use these to collaborate with the body and visually display notions of internal conflict, self-realisation and, perhaps, self-acceptance.I reconceptualise notions of ‘self’ through the objectification of the body in spaces or environments; a field; a body sculpture; a hidden room; a wardrobe or a river bank. These explorations are documented and presented (mainly through installations and kinetic sculptures) in such a way the viewer can fully immerse themselves in a potential reavaluation of themselves. I explore how our bodies inhabit space and time. I also examine the relation of the living form to how it negotiates itself in various environments and under an array of various conditions, be they lighting or vacinity. I question the notions of art and the autonomy of the work itself by deploying the body as language. Additionally, having been trained in fabric, fibre and dress design, I have used costumes as functioning aparatuses which collaborated with the body in the space.
