Gallery EM opened its doors on September 15th, 2007 in Chungdam-dong, Seoul’s mecca of art & fashion. Gallery EM’s mission is to exhibit the finest quality of art by talented artists from across the globe and to promote their works both in the domestic and international art markets. The gallery strives to globalize the Korean art market by introducing it to a wide spectrum of works by international artists. Gallery EM creates its exhibitions through close collaboration with artists, independent curators, and art critics. A viewer-friendly space, the gallery also acts as a liaison between Korean artists and the rest of the world. In order to promote Korean artists worldwide, the gallery regularly participates in international art fairs and continuously encourages exhibitions of Korean artists in other countries. Gallery EM represents the works of Jin Han Lee, Jimin Chae, Jeanie Lee, Hyemin Lee, Siyeon Kim, Jae Yong Rhee, Nakhee Sung, and Hyoungsun Chang, among other artists.
갤러리 엠은 패션, 문화예술의 메카인 청담동에 둥지를 틀고 2007년 9월 15일에 개관하였습니다. 갤러리 엠은 젊은 작가의 발굴 및 홍보를 통해 갤러리와 작가가 함께 성장하는 것을 목적으로 출발하였으며, 젊고 발전 가능성이 풍부한 작가들의 작품을 선보이고자 합니다. 갤러리 엠의 목표는 현대미술의 여러 장르에서 활발히 활동중인 신진작가 및 중견작가 들을 지역이나 국가에 제한을 두지 않고 소개하는 것이며, 세계 각지의 작가들과 대중의 활발한 교류를 통해 한국의 미술시장이 보다 글로벌한 모습을 띠는 데 기여하는 것입니다. 갤러리 엠은 작가와 독립 큐레이터 및 평론가 들과의 협력을 통해 새로운 의미를 담은 신선한 전시 프로그램을 선보일 것입니다.
이를 통해 보다 다양한 층의 관람객들에게 다가서는 갤러리가 될 것이며, 작가들을 국내외 미술시장에 소개하는 계기를 꾸준히 만들어 나갈 것입니다. 또한 국내 작가들을 해외 미술시장에 소개하기 위해 아트페어에 지속적으로 참가하는 것은 물론, 해외 전시를 유치하는 데에도 노력을 아끼지 않을 것입니다.
