In finite exhibition spaces and the open domain of the street, Jazoo works across mediums, incorporating sound and movement to further explore the phenomenon of social isolation as a consequence of urban flux.

라이브 페인팅은 작업이 이루어지는 장소, 관람객, 사운드, 협업 아티스트 등등 여러 가지 요소가 결합하여 탄생한다. 이 작업은 때에 따라 관람객이 직접 페인팅에 참여하기도 하고 스크린과 프로젝션 활용한 미디어 아트 작업으로 변주되는 가운데 작가가 창조한 이미지는 생명력을 얻고 외부로 무한히 뻗어 나간다.

Canvas Instrument / Live MOVIE
Using the same principle of a string telephone played by kids, this
device delivers frictional vibrations of the canvas made by stroke of
an artist — JAZOO Yang through metal springs to a musician —
haku sungho. The collected sounds from the device are taken into a
computer and simultaneously the musician proceeds sampling and
recording the sounds. The sounds (of strokes) are amplified and
affected by prepared speakers and a guitar amp, and it conveys the
trajectory of the painter’s motion to the painter herself again. Every
sound source is oscillated from the canvas. The main concept of
this device is involving the inevitable sounds made by bodily
movements of the painter and making the musical order deviated
from what the painter could expect.
화가 (JAZOO Yang)의 스트로크가 만들어내는 캔버스와의 마찰 및 진동이 실 전화의 원리와 같이 스프링에 의해 플라스틱 컵으로 전달된다.
컵 앞에 장치된 마이크에 모인 소리가 뮤지션에게 전달되고, 이렇게 전달된 캔버스 소리를 뮤지션(haku sungho)이 녹음과 샘플링 작업으로 동시간에 진행한다. 스피커,기타 앰프를 통해 증폭, 이펙트된 소리 (스트로크)는 화가에게 다시 그 행위의 궤적을 전한다. 모든 음원은 캔버스에서 발진 된 것으로, 화가의 신체에 의한 불가피한 소리에 대한 관여 ,예상되는 음악적 질서에서의 일탈을 목적으로한다.

Jazoo Yang is a visual artist from South Korea. Her works take a variety of forms, including painting (excretions), installation (excavation), and performance. As an elaboration on her own solitude, a product of the constantly shifting physical and cultural landscape of South Korea’s urban space, Jazoo endeavors to explore notions of history and loss in her work. Influenced by the present-day neglect of social legacy and the ‘culturelessness’ of the modern city, Jazoo aims to salvage that which lies on the fringe of our social consciousness. Traditionally, populations settle in certain areas for extended periods of time. By establishing places of habitation, work and leisure, individuals construct a sense of community and belonging. As such, the interminable demolitions, reconstructions, and renovations of the modern erahave led to a loss of familiarity, alienating individuals within the city that is their home. This trend is not unique to Seoul; the uprooting of one’s physical and cultural history is a global phenomenon that is both felt and observed in major cities the world over. The Ehren아티스트 양자주는 현대 사회에서 피할 수 없는 소외와 고독에 대한 이야기를 회화를 비롯한 다양한 매체를 활용하여 표현한다. 작가는 개인이 느끼는 고독은 고도로 발달한 사회 구조에서 오는 실질적인 질병과도 같은 것으로 보며 이와 같은 상태를 상처 받은 인간 군상, 재개발로 폐허가 된 풍경 안으로 끌어들인다. 거리에서의 페인팅과 설치 작업 및 라이브 페인팅을 통해 예술과 삶, 아티스트와 관객 간의 실천적인 개입을 시도하며 ‘We don’t blame you' ,‘People will save us’와 같은 구호를 통해서 상실된 커뮤니티의 회복을 꿈꾼다. 우현정 Exhibitions - solo 2014 COCOON 2014 展 2015 양자주 개인전 Reborn
